I managed to squeeze one more off..probably the same time you did.

I am truly stumped..I wish I had as many answers as I do questions.

Maybe we just need a fresh point of view from someone else to bring it all together and find some answers.

zines about it? Why is the the truth hidden from us...yet revealed to a chosen few? (if it really is.) What makes these people more loved and trusted than us..are we not entitled to the truth? I am not understanding this at all...can someone help me out and convince me I am not worthy to successfully read and understand the bible without an interpeter to guide me? It's like relying on a english teacher to follow me around for the rest of my life so that I can understand everyone. I call bullshit.

Can we talk more about meanings of individual words used in the bible?

i really enjoyed the feedback i recieved from an earlier post i made.

i was asking about how anyone could actually know the meanings of simple words like "fire" "sea" etc and what they meant to the author of the bible.. all we have to go on is our own understanding of what we were taught by others who didn't write the book as to what "fire" was to them.

if they are wrong...we could be all screwed up trying to translate a book without any knowledge of the basic meaning of the words to the one who wrote it.

today i re-established contact with an older true - friend who is still a jw.

in the fifty years that he has been baptized he invested a lot of time and effort in helping the needy and elderly, loyally taking up responsibilities in the org as an elder, organizer, speaker and shepherd.

he is still out there as a lowly publisher, tirelessly going from door to door with only his bible.

Problem with sinners punishing other sinners..is we can't see into the future...so you kill a man for committing a crime or lock him up forever...that man could actually go on to save millions of people someday...there is no waty we could ever know without that ability. look at the Apostle Paul. What if the apostles killed him for his role in the murder of Stephen?

In a "war" when you are outmanned and outgunned...if you take the most evil person of them all..convert them...do not all their followers still follow them? Much easier way of "taking care of business" IMO. perhaps that is God's way of handling things. I can only speculate.

So the GB can tell us right from wrong? I call bullshit.

There has to be some way to find out the truth as to what every little "simple" word meant to the author.

Question is how.

I have noticed alot of people lately using their own understandings of the words to present their opinions as truth.
